Special Public Notice:
A Helping Paw MUST raise $40,000 By December 2008 or we will be forced to close our doors forever. As a small, growing organization, we do NOT have the reserves to make it through difficult times such as these. Unlike most shelters who rely on steady income provided by town contracts, we rely 100% on public support. Our monthly donations have been about 80% lower in the past three months. Our shelter/rescue has provided crucial services to the public and homeless pets of this area for 10 years. It would be devastating to this area to lose such a vital organization.
Please support our work of ending the needless killing of pets:The pets NEED you to save their shelter.
* HELP US MATCH $5,000! A generous door is offering to match all funds up to $5,000. Don't let the pets lose out on these precious funds, send your match tody!

Volunteers Desperately NEEDED!!! Due to the slow economy, more and more pets are being left homeless, the worst we've seen it in 10 years. People who once volunteered have been forced back to work. With less volunteers and more homeless pets we are desperately seeking volunteers in all areas. Our most major need is for cleaning help. Whether it be morning cleaners to help in the pet rooms or others who can do light cleaning of our thrift shop, even 2-4 hours per week would make the difference. Reliable people only please. Great way to learn more about what it takes to save these precious pets. College bond students WELCOME!
Kitty DUMPED
A female cat was recently dumped at our shelter. Our guess is this poor cat was left to sit in a carrier for almost a day in the rain. The cat was dumped out back near the dumpster while we were closed. Thank goodness none of the delinquents from the neighborhood got their hands on her, hate to think what they would have done to her. We are looking for any information regarding the owner of this cat. The cat was severly neglected and in desperate need of medical care. We would like to file charges of abuse and neglect. The cat has lost much of her fur do to a flea infestation, over 1/3 of the tips of her ears are missing from a serious earmite infection, she has dental disease, and she is bloated almost twice her normal size from an untreated heart condition. Looking at her, she looks like a full bred flame-point Persian. Totally heartbreaking that people treat their pets this way. Unfortunately this is NOT an isolated story, we get pets in like this all the time. In order to save this kitty's life, we need to raise $500 for her medical care in the next two weeks. We are praying there are a few very kind-hearted people who feel she's worth saving, unlike her owner who treated her like a piece of garbage and dumped her without care. ***Update - Flame is doing wonderful thanks to the generous people who cared enough to help support this precious girl's medical care. She is such a sweet - sweet love, we can't thank these people enough for saving her life. She has a few more tests that will be run over the next month. But soon we are hoping to find her a permanent home where her medical care will be continued. She is an amazing girl and deserves to be pampered. Someone did contact us through the ad they saw in the Brockton Enterprise, but because we had only started her medical care, she wasn't ready for a new home. If you are this person, please call us back.
The "For Sale" signs went up last month. Our pets are again fearful they may lose the only place they can call home. The only organization in the area dedicated to ending the extermination of innocent pets.
As a small organization started with no funding, our goal has been to prove that you don't need to be rich to do good. And thanks to the generosity of so many people our organization continues to grow more and more every year. Yet, we've moved three times already and every time we do we it truly hurts our progress. Last year in our new building has been our best year yet! We LOVE this building and we want to ensure it belongs to the pets FOREVER!
There is still time to save the pets home. We NEED to raise enough money to finally buy this building or another. Please, please give generously to our building fund. It "IS" possible to buy this building. We can STOP the extermination of innocent pets! Spread the word, tell everyone you know that we must all join together and save their building.
