November - December

They give us so much and ask so little in return: safety, warmth and food.

Won't you please ensure that every pet has a full belly this winter.

We need your help stocking up for the winter. Higher utility bills make it so difficult not just for the shelter but for so many pet owners. Feed the Pets offers low-income pet owners free pet food during the months of Nov - March so they can concentrate on feeding themselves and their children.

Won't you please donate today to help your neighbors through a difficult time and ensure all the shelter pets have happy holidays.

Visit with us as we try to "Fill - A - Truck" for the pets:

Nov. 11th & 12th - Stop & Shop, Merchants Sqr. Sandwich ,10-4

Nov. 19th - Wareham Wal-Mart, 10-4

Donations Needed: Moist & Dry cat and dog food, cat litter!, paper towels, cleaners & laundry detergent, kitchen trash bags.

* Unable to make it to the above dates? That's OK. You can bring your pet food & supply donations directly to the shelter. Every person who donates will get a 25% OFF coupon good for our thrift store - you never know what goodies you'll find

Collections of Pennies WANTED!!!!

It's time to start saving those Pennies again!

Sweeping them under the carpet won't make them go away, sucking them up in the vaccum will only give you more headaches, and the dirty looks you get from the line of customers behind you, really isn't worth it. Now you can get rid of those dreaded pennies for a great cause!!! Donate them to help care for our homeless pets. Don't forget to inculde your name and phone number when dropping off your pennies, we are working on a great prize for whoever brings in the most pennies.

If you can't visit our facility you can send your donation and request to: A Helping Paw, PO Box 387, Buzzards Bay, MA 02532.

Pets' Wish List

First we would like to thank everyone who helps A Helping Paw continue saving lives. Many may see us as just another stray, homeless pet that should be destroyed. We've known abuse, fear, hunger, thirst and pain, most of all loneliness had become our only friend. Many of us have watched as our friends' lives have ended prematurely, ever so grateful  we've been given a second chance at life by A Helping Paw.  From all of us, we thank the people who support A Helping Paw and life!

  • Homes, Homes and more Homes - gosh, there are so few good homes out there - seems everyone already has a pet, or they just don't want more. We see people all the time that simply fall in love with us, yet they walk out the door and leave us to never comeback. I wonder what it feels like to have that one special lap, or maybe even your very own dish? You know what would be great, is if people decided to add just one more pet   giving a shelter pet the best gift EVER a HOME! Please adopt  a pet for "Home For The Holidays".
  • Sponsors to donate funds that will build an outside play yard for the sanctuary residents so we can play safely outside. This will help us destress and keep us busy exploring something different everyday.
  • Toys and goodies - yes, when we get bored, we tend to make our own fun, of course the volunteers would prefer we had lots of new toys and kitty furniture to keep us busy so we'll stop getting into trouble.
  • New sink - the volunteers are so good to us, and I know this will help them more than us, but in the long run it will give them more time to play with us. They would like to add a new sink in the sanctuary, one large enough for soaking litter boxes and a swarm of dishes. We already have the sink but what we actually need is the funds to install the additional plumbing. Hey, maybe in the future installing a dishwasher wouldn't be such a bad idea?
  • Wal-Mart - gift certificates. Every single week one of our volunteers trudges to Wal-Mart to buy supplies for the shelter, rain, sleet, hail, it doesn't matter - ever try to pull a 200 pound carriage through slush when it's 10 degrease out? That's what it takes to care for all of us, and she does it without complaints. Of course with the exception of the cost which is normally over $150. per week. I know gift certificates would sure put a smile on her face not to mention allow more funds to go to pets who need medical care. The great thing is, you can get them in any amount you want!

TY Beanie Baby Yard Sale

October 2005

Thanks to so many generous Beanie Collectors we collected over 1300 Beanies! We spent Friday till midnight just sorting them! Just as we were setting up Sat it began to rain, our volunteer Amy rushed to get a tent so the sale could still go on. And it did. Little, 11 year-old Sheri, (my adorable daughter) ran the show! She spent the entire day out in the cold rain, but she didn't mind one bit. She helped us raise a little over $100. May not seem like much, but it helped pay for the food and litter we need for just one week. Thank you so much to everyone who helped set up and risked getting wet by coming to our sale. And, YES, we still are collecting Beanies and would like to reach our goal of 2,000! We'll have the Beanies available for sale at our Holiday Bazaar. Perfect for stocking stuffers, gifts, giveaways at bingo and parties. Great time to stock up on those  Beanies.

Give A Piece of Your Heart For Valentine's Day 2005

Our 4th annual Heart For Pets was a great success. We raised over $90. to help the animals. Many of the donations came from out-of-state, through people bidding on Ebay!

Our First Annual Holiday Fair Dec. 2004

was a great success!!!! Considering this was our first, I'm very proud of all our volunteers that dug right in and did what was needed to make this event so wonderful - a lot of hard-work and time was needed to pull this off. Even our JR volunteers were there to give us a helping hand - we could not have done it without them. Meeting the pet parents and hearing about their wonderful companions was of course the highlight of our day. Thanks to our volunteers, and businesses that donated items we raised over $1,000. for our shelter. We also collected over 250 pounds of dry animal food to help less fortunate pet owners who struggle to pay winter bills. This event was a lot of fun and we hope to see you all next year.
