MEET OUR PETS

On any given day A Helping Paw provides care to over 30 special needs pets!

Our  Furrever Care program offers an enriched home-style environment to high-risk pets who ran out of options. Doesn't matter if they are wobbly, have the shakes, hearing impaired or have no use of their legs ~ each is truly unique and we master a care plan just for them.

We also provide supportive care to pets in hospice so they can enjoy their final days safe and comfortable but most of all loved and cherished to the very last moment.

Just a few of our pets...

Our Pupper Helpers

Permanent Residents  ~

These sweeties are our working dogs here at AHP. Each dog plays a crucial role helping us do our chores and protect our kitties from harm.

Fudo was due to be euthanized because according to everyone who saw him at the shelter  he was SCARY - a bad dog! Since being rescued he had a part time job working with teens who suffer OCD and anxiety issues.

Yuki - not a rescue but a pup in need. Yuki was born deaf. He now knows over 35 ASL signs! Our hopes are that in the future once he completes training he can work with others who are deaf.

Jyn Jyn is the tragic result of breeders who only breed for money. Merle to merle breeding in ANY breed can cause deafness and blindness if not both! This is a huge problem in southern states, where pets aren't valued as much as they are in New England. Most often deaf pups are destroyed because they are seen as having no value. Sadly, Jyn Jyn was also abused. She is a happy girl now and knows over 25 ASL words.

* Interested in adopting a deaf dog? We are happy to provide you with resources, the training we use for our dogs and trusted deaf dog rescues.

My sister and I almost lost our lives at just 6 months old.

Favorite things: Sitting on the plant shelf in a sunny window. I love high places and tend to knock things down a lot - but it's good for the humans to get some extra exercise picking all those things up.

I was due to be destroyed, simply because I'm feral

Feeling safe, hiding in my soft cubby, going outside in the kitty garden watching the birds, butt rubs.
